The Human Guinea Pig
The Human Guinea Pig or I Sacrifice Myself For Science
It’s been a little over a week since I saw Eli ( Dr. Van Allen ) my oncologist and had lab test reports as well as a new dose of chemo ( Lupron and Casodex ). Tests came out great, not thrilled about having to take my last 3 month dose of chemo, but hey it’s only 90 days. When I got home I decided to give myself a much needed break from the exercise routine and chill for a week. In just a few days side effects I haven’t experienced slipped in. Insomnia, I can tell you takes it’s toll, 3-4 hours of bad sleep is a drag. Hot flashes incorporated with that equals zero rest. Severe headaches followed whenever I had a minuscule glass of wine, never more than 1 glass but usually just a third of a glass would bring on the dagger to the head. If I have learned one thing in this experiment in terror it’s all about repetition . Motivation is bullshit. Sure you can have all the motivation in the world but in the end it’s just talk. That said, my point has been proven, that exercise daily works, period. And that’s why my friends ADK HIKE FOR HOPE is so important. Needless to say that today I’m back in the repetitive mode, and in just 2 weeks I embark on my 133 mile journey hopefully to prove this point.
Later…..
