90 mile canoe journey across the Adirondacks - part 1

It was a life change for my 27 year old partner on this trip and a reaffirmation of my inner and outer strength, that anything is possible even as a 69 year old stage 3 Prostate Cancer survivor. Ethan Cobb was the perfect companion for this journey. We pushed each other through a harmonious rhythm. Each channeling the positive energy bank to propel us into our 10-12 hour days of paddling and portages.

Inlet, NY, where most of my childhood was spent at my Dad’s childrens camp on 4th lake. Halfway through the Fulton Chain. The small channel with it’s poetic boathouses leading to 5th lake and the long carry on the road to 6th lake.

Heading towards 8th Lake the end of a long but perfect day. The rhythm had been established.

After a long day the “Good To Go” meals are the best food you can imagine. Incredible and nothing weird in it. I can’t tell you how delicious this meal was ! After dinner we hiked a good mile to check out the canoe carry facing us in the morning. We decided if we were going to do that we might as well lighten the load by carrying the canoe that night and leaving it . A good idea.

Ethan Cobb doing what he does best. The fire starter. As the night came in, a nice camp fire was the perfect ending to a great day.

Boardwalk to put in at Browns Tract, our next mornings destination leaving us into Raquette Lake.

Starting out at daybreak. Headed towards Raquette Lake we hit four beaver dams to deal with.
