The magic of 3 words
Yesterday as I was writing an entry to my blog a knock on our front door , I thought had interrupted my train of thought. I was met by two men in their late 60′s. Larry and Lou stopped by to offer support and words of encouragement , they were prostate cancer survivors and have a camp up the road apiece . We spoke of our love of the mountains, and how important exercise is to recovery as well as keeping one’s mental state in a positive direction. These guys are avid hikers and have climbed all the peaks in the Catskills as well as working on the High Peaks here in the Adirondack’s. I thanked them and told them how grateful I was that strangers, people I had not met, stopped by to encourage me and give me hope. Their kindness means a lot.
For those that do not have cancer, but know someone that does, I’m letting you know that even the words “ how are you ? “ resonates . Don’t be afraid to reach out even if it’s with just those three words.
